Expanding the Life of Your X-ray Tubes
What Is Tube Reclamation?
Reclamation – or the act of returning something to a former, better state – is exactly what the MIS oil purification system is designed to do. It was developed to exchange insulating oil from tubes in medical imaging systems like CT and X-ray machines in order to extend the life of the tubes.
After previous attempts by others to bring a tube reclamation process to market did not reach the required levels to effectively extend tube life, MIS made advancements in this technology and even developed a mobile device for the process that was granted a provisional patent.
Helping You Save
So what does this mean for your imaging equipment? Simply put, savings. Of both cost and time. Viscosity degrades with increasing oil age, as do chemical, electrical and physical characteristics like volume resistivity, dielectric loss tangents, interfacial tensions, and total acid values.
Utilizing our tube reclamation program keeps equipment healthier for longer, decreasing the need to replace expensive tubes. And mobile means we come to you, minimizing the downtime on these vital systems.
To illustrate the savings that tube reclamation provides, let’s compare the standard cost-per-second of a Siemens Straton vs. the cost-per-second of a Straton that receives regular reclamation.
MIS tube reclamation costs $10,000 to be performed, and it increases the life of the tube by 250,000 seconds. If reclamation is performed 3 times over the life of the tube, with the first reclamation being performed at 250,000 seconds, the cost has increased by $30,000 and the life has increased by 750,000 seconds. Therefore, the adjusted cost using MIS is:
When the MIS cost is subtracted from the standard cost, the result is how much is being saved per second of scanning:
